What domains usually cost
Buy your domain at Porkbun or Namecheap. Prices are per year in US dollars and approximate. Check the first-year and the renewal price at checkout before you pay.

Why is a .com sometimes very expensive? If a name is already owned, the owner can ask any price to sell it. Those are not normal registrations. If the checker says your name is taken, do not pay a reseller. Try another name or another ending like .net. Short and common words are usually taken.
Tip: add a word or your community name, for example yournametrades.com or yournamehq.com. These are almost always free and cost the normal price.
Do not buy your domain on Cloudflare. Domains bought there are locked to Cloudflare's own settings, and I cannot connect them to your hub.
The checker tells you if a name is already registered. It cannot see every special price, so confirm the exact price at checkout before you buy.
Important: never send me your passwords, not for your domain account and not for anything else. You stay in control of your own accounts the whole time.
Step 1: Buy your domain
Make a free accountGo to porkbun.com or namecheap.com and sign up. Do not use Cloudflare to buy it.
Search your nameType the name you want, for example yourname.com.
Check it is availableIf it says "available", add it to the cart and pick 1 year.
Keep privacy onLeave the free privacy option switched on. It hides your home address.
Pay with your own cardA .com usually costs about $10 to $12 for the year. Keep auto-renew on, if the domain expires your hub goes offline.
Step 2: Tell me the domain name
Message me on Discord with the domain you bought. Also tell me if you use email on this domain (for example Google Workspace), so I can keep it working.
Step 3: Swap the nameservers
I send you 2 nameservers. Then you:
Open your domain settingsLog in to Porkbun or Namecheap and open your domain's nameserver settings.
Paste the 2 nameserversReplace the ones that are there with the 2 I sent. Copy them exactly.
Save and waitIt can take a few minutes up to a day. I set up everything else, including the padlock.
While you are on my plan, your domain points to my hosting. If you ever leave, you switch the nameservers back. You always own the domain.
Step 4: Test it
Open your .com on your phone. Check the padlock and tap your Discord and journal buttons. If something looks wrong, message me.

Check the 2 nameservers match what I sent, character for character.
No padlock or a security warning
Wait a bit longer. The certificate turns on after the domain connects.
Works without www but not with it
